Itinerary

The Kalahari (the word means "the great thirst") is an exceptionally beautiful living desert. The Kalahari landscape is characterized by a vast semi-arid sandy savannah and an internal sea of sand covering this part of Namibia, a portion of Botswana, and South Africa. Arrival in Windhoek, car pickup, and departure towards the south along the C23/C15, a beautiful road leading to Dorbabis. Continue along the C15 to Hoachanas where you turn east (right) onto the C21. After about 11 km, turn right onto the D1268 to reach the Jansen Kalahari Guestfarm. Depending on the weather, we suggest taking the nature drive with a sunset aperitif among the red dunes of the Kalahari. Stages: Windhoek – Mariental (Kalahari) Accommodation: Jansen Kalahari Guestfarm - Included Meals: Breakfast

The Kalahari landscape is characterized by a vast semi-arid sandy savannah draped over an internal sea of sand covering this part of Namibia, a portion of Botswana, and South Africa. Head south towards Keetmanshoop, the capital of the Karas region, to reach the Fish River Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the world. We recommend a slight detour to admire the quiver tree forest and the giant playground. Stages: Mariental – Fish River Canyon Accommodation: Gondwana Canyon Roadhouse - Included Meals: Breakfast Fish River Canyon Over centuries, the Fish River has carved out the Fish River Canyon, Africa's largest and the world's second-largest canyon. With its dry, rocky terrain, the Fish River Canyon stretches 160 km in length, about 27 km in width, and plunges 550 meters deep. The remarkable natural beauty of this ancient geological wonder attracts visitors from around the world. The Fish River hiking trail (about 85 km) takes you through 1.5 billion years of geological history, a treat for geology enthusiasts. In the southern extremity of the canyon, you'll find mineral springs, the Ai-Ais hot springs, where bathing is possible at certain times of the year

This day will be dedicated to exploring the Fish River Canyon. From the lodge, head towards Hobas (about 30 minutes from your lodge) to reach the entrance gate to the panoramic points of the Fish River Canyon. You can walk along the canyon edges at some of the viewpoints. Stages: Fish River Canyon Accommodation: Gondwana Canyon Roadhouse - Included Meals: Breakfast

Today you'll travel to Luderitz, crossing the Aus area, known for its desert horses. Head north towards Chamaites and Seheem, then west towards the Namib Desert to reach Luderitz. Along the way, the landscape features various small flat-topped mountains. Consider stopping to admire the wild horses near Garup. Once in Luderitz, visiting Diaz Point is recommended. Stages: Fish River Canyon – Luderitz Accommodation: Kairos Cottage Bed&Breakfast - Included Meals: Breakfast

Excursion to Kolmanskop, the deserted town. This tiny town was founded by Germans in 1908 and, thanks to the abundance of diamonds, was among Africa's wealthiest for a few years before being abandoned when the diamond supply ran out. *Opening hours for visiting Kolmanskop are from 8:00 to 13:00. In Luderitz, you can also take a boat tour to Halifax Island to see penguins. This excursion departs at 8:00 and ends at 10:00, requiring advance booking. Stages: Luderitz - Kolmanskop Accommodation: Kairos Cottage Bed&Breakfast - Included Meals: Breakfast

Today, your journey north begins along dirt roads through the Namib Desert. Head towards Sesriem and Sossusvlei, choosing between two routes. The more scenic D707 is a slightly sandy dirt road along Namib Naukluft Park, or take the C13 and C14 via Helmeringhausen and Maltahohe. Regardless of the route, the Namibian landscape will accompany you on this journey. Stages: Aus – Namib Naukluft Park - Hardap Accommodation: Desert Quiver Camp - Included Meals: Breakfast

Located in the picturesque Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is where you'll find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The blue sky contrasts with the towering red dunes, creating one of Africa's most scenic natural wonders. This place is probably Namibia's main attraction, with its unique dunes rising to nearly 400 meters, some of the world's tallest. Deadvlei is also here, a small salt clay valley with sun-scorched ancient trees among the majestic dunes. Stages: Sossusvlei Accommodation: Desert Quiver Camp - Included Meals: Breakfast

Today, head north towards the Atlantic Ocean to reach Swakopmund. Founded in 1892 as the main port for German South-West Africa, Swakopmund is now a popular seaside resort. Along the way, make stops to visit Solitaire, Welwitschia Plains, and Moon Valley. Stages: Sesriem – Solitaire Accommodation: Sea Breeze Guesthouse - Included Meals: Breakfast

Today, we highly recommend participating in kayaking with seals and the excursion to Sandwich Harbour. The excursion starts at 8:30 from Walvis Bay (pick-up: 7 AM) and includes a kayak trip to spot seals, dolphins, and numerous birds. On the way back to Walvis Bay, you might spot springbok, oryx, and jackals. The final stop is the salt lakes where thousands of pink flamingos and other water birds can be seen. Stages: Swakopmund Accommodation: Sea Breeze Guesthouse - Included Meals: Breakfast

Today, leave the coast and head inland via the salt road towards Henties Bay, then into Damaraland towards the Brandberg Mountains. This mountain range awaits you with spectacular granite formations. It's the highest mountain range in Namibia. You must visit Twyfelfontein, an ancient site declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007, where rock art and engravings left by the San people can still be seen, along with Burnt Mountain, Organ Pipes, and the Petrified Forest. Stages: Damaraland Accommodation: Twyfelfontein Madisa Camp - Included Meals: Breakfast

After yesterday's long day, you can start your journey to Etosha National Park at a leisurely pace. The drive is only 200 km and takes a little over 2 hours. You'll arrive at the lodge by lunchtime to embark on your first afternoon safari. We recommend visiting the Okaukuejo waterhole just before sunset, attracting many animals that come to drink before dark. Stages: Damaraland - Etosha National Park Accommodation: Eldorado Lodge - Included Meals: Breakfast

This day is dedicated to safari along the tracks of Etosha National Park. Etosha hosts a variety of African mammals including rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeests, impalas, water buffalos, kudus, warthogs, zebras, oryx, and springboks, as well as over 100 species of birds. If you prefer a ranger-led safari using their specialized vehicles instead of your own car, you can book this excursion in advance. Stages: Etosha National Park Accommodation: Eldorado Lodge - Included Meals: Breakfast

Unfortunately, this is the last day of your Namibia journey, and you need to return to Windhoek in time for your flight back to Italy. The distance between the lodge and Windhoek Airport is about 410 km, and the journey takes around 5 hours. Plan your travel time to arrive at the airport about 2.5 hours before your flight so you have time to return the car and check-in comfortably. Stages: Etosha - Windhoek

There is an additional charge of €180 per person if you prefer a 4x4 vehicle such as a Toyota Hi Lux or Fortuner instead of the Toyota RAV4 (4x2).

  • Driver/Guide (English speaking) €190 per day (includes accommodation and meals)
